Origin story (Just the FAQs)
This will be brief, essentially a FAQs for Song of Samson.
Q. How did it start?
A: For the very first conversation that started it all, read this post. After that we texted Conversations #2 and sometime shortly after that we decided to move from text to a shared blog.
Q: Who are you?
Red: I'm in my late 30s and grew up all over the US, with an extended family that could be a mini-UN. We "adopted" college town houses of international students when I was a child, and I traveled roughly 2/3 of the US and toured Scandinavia as part of the tech crew with my college symphonic band. Did I mention my roommate of two years was a violin major? Both my parents were brass players in their day, and I love music of all most every era, style, and genre. Notable exceptions: I'm not fan of Mozart (ugh - harpsichords), the Beetles (brilliant, yes, but they aren't my favorite), and Michael Jackson (great showman, but I realllllly dislike high male voices).
Jonah: ...says the woman who can't get enough Sam Smith. I, for the record, love the Beetles. You can read more about that in the comment string on our first conversations blog here. I was born to the world of cassette tapes, quickly replaced by CDs. While I had classical training as a child, I had fallen out of wonder with music by my teenage years, until one morning I woke to the artistry of chiptunes and the rest, as they say, is history. I play guitar, piano, and sing in choir. I also produce and work with video.
Q: So who's Samson?!?
A: Samson is Red's Golden Retriever, lover of all mankind and willing co-conspirator. If case you doubt his input, he is VERY involved. Ironically, it was Jonah's idea to use him as the lead writer.
(R: Yes, I'm a Cubs fan!)
Q: I know this isn't a question, but you guys ramble and skip around a LOT!
A: Truth. This blog started simply as a way to take a private conversation public, so you will find that much of our blog (especially conversations and comments) keeps that quick back and forth. Yes, it was planned... sort of:
R: ...Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I am expecting this to basically be essentially a glorified string of Reddit threads.
J: You're correct. LOL
